I recently started writing an ebook. I don’t have a writing deal or anything, though that would be nice. I’ve just been wanting to write and publish books for a very long time. So I am exploring digital self-publishing models and educating myself on the ins and outs of the process.
I was honestly intimidated by the idea of self-publishing before I dove in and created a writing plan. The best way to approach something like this is to carve out time daily/weekly/monthly to write, edit, research, etc., little by little. Even if all I had was thirty minutes here and there, I used whatever available time I had toward this goal.
I followed this process for a little over a month, and before I knew it, I was at the point I am now, making the second round of edits, formatting, and researching distribution platforms. eBooks and products are the natural next step for this blog, as there is a lot of content to draw from that can be updated and refreshed for wider accessibility. I don’t expect to become some bestselling author; I just want to diversify my portfolio with digital products and possibly earn a nice little side income to supplement my day job. Anything beyond that would exceed my expectations.
As a reader of this blog, you’ll be the first to know when the first ebook is available for purchase on Amazon and Apple Books. I’m doing my best to get it on the marketplaces within the next four weeks, before the end of 2020. I’m not ready to share the title yet, but please make sure to follow my newsletter, Twitter, Instagram, and this site for updates.
