Homemade Anti-Acne Mask: Turmeric, Bentonite Clay, Honey, Apple Cider Vinegar

A roundup of the ingredients that make up this homemade anti-acne mask.

Here is a homemade anti-acne mask to help get your skin right on a Sunday night: a turmeric bentonite clay honey mask.

Turmeric a very common ingredient in Africa and South Asia. Aside from making yellow rice yellow, turmeric works really well to fade acne scars on darker skin tones. To me, it seems that African and Asian women from the continents have amazing, youthful skin, even if it isn’t always perfect and clear. I believe this is because they eat less dairy-based foods than North Americans, and adhere to diet and beauty routines that are focused on simple and natural ingredients. I’m still a consumerist American who loves ice cream, but African and Eastern lifestyle practices inspire me to do the best I can to keep things clean and green.

Back to the mask: my skin reacted well to the ginger and turmeric mask I made last summer, so I decided to try some of the ingredients in my Aztec Indian Healing clay mask, leaving out the ginger in favor of apple cider vinegar. It’s one of those treatments where you don’t really notice a difference immediately after you apply it. But the next day you’re like “damn, that pimple went away,” or “is it me, or did that spot fade a little bit?”
