I went to New York last week. Being in town for a 2 1/2-day business trip, It was a whirlwind; it was impossible to fit everything I wanted into such a short visit. There were so many things I wanted to eat, see, and do, and people I wanted to see. However, it was possible for me to get a lot out of those 50 or so hours in Manhattan, and that I did.
NYC Travel Diary
The conference I attended (which was super awesome), took place inside the New York Times building. Being so far away from the daily grind of work and life in LA gave me a renewed perspective. I also felt very blessed and lucky to have a chance to experience one of the greatest cities in the world, supported by the organization I work for.
On to the fun stuff: I stayed in a really cool hotel in the middle of Times Square called Yotel. It’s super futuristic, modern, and cool. I liked it a lot but didn’t spend much time in my room.
Outside the conference walls, it was all about food and drinking (surprise, surprise). From coffee, tea and pastries at Dean & De Luca to visiting The Smith in Manhattan and Eataly in Flatiron, we had some amazing cafe and restaurant experiences.
We also rode the subway (which kind of a big deal for me, a native Angeleno who hates public transportation.)
I wish I could have extended my trip to stay longer, but I am pre-rich (aka broke) and I need to save money to go to the Bay Area next month. Finances be damned, I’m already planning my next trip to NYC in my heart and mind.
