I just got back from a weekend trip to the Bay Area. I love visiting Northern California, it’s such a beautiful and scenic place. It’s climate and natural habitat feels a world away from Southern California. Brisk air, being mostly surrounded by water, and awe-inspiring architecture gives both San Francisco and Oakland a cool, eclectic vibe. The region offers so much amazing food, music, drinking, and stuff to do, no wonder interesting and creative people from all over the world continue to migrate to the Bay Area.
It’s also one of the best weekend getaways from Los Angeles. We usually drive to the Bay Area from Southern California, but it’s only an hour flight to San Francisco, Oakland, or San Jose airports. Alaska Airlines and Jet Blue both offer west coast flight deals on the regular, if you aren’t up for a 5.5-hour road trip each way.
Keep reading for a few snapshots from my Memorial Day weekend trip to the Bay Area:
The view when descending into SFO…
Bento plate from Naked Fish in Hayward, CA. Pictured: sesame chicken, California roll, rice, salad…
After lunch, we went to Lake Merritt in Oakland…
Next stop: happy hour at The Libertine in Oakland…
I decided to go for the hibiscus margarita. It was delicious, but a little sweet…
So I decided to try a Paloma next, which ended up being too salty…
We left the bar to walk around Grand Avenue and stumbled upon a used book sale at Walden Pond Bookstore…
Good food, good drinks, good finds make for a great long weekend. Read more Life posts. #happylife
