Protein hair masks are the absolute best at repairing damaged hair. While there are tons of products on the market that offer to fix damaged hair, there are also ingredients in your kitchen that get the job done just as well. The DIY hair mask I’m going to share today helped restore the overall health of my curls after I scorched them last winter. If you don’t mind a little mess, read on for a homemade egg hair mask recipe that will get your curls and waves back popping!
4 oz olive oil
2 tablespoon honey
8 oz Applicator Bottle
Why it Works:
Eggs: rich in protein, sulfur, and biotin to strengthen and correct damaged hair.
Honey: natural humectant, full of antioxidants that draw moisture to the hair, making it super soft and shiny
Olive Oil: rich, natural moisturizer that smooths hair and soothes dry scalp
Crack one egg into a bowl. Add 4 ounces of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of honey, and combine to mix thoroughly. Transfer mixture into an 8 oz applicator bottle, shake gently to mix. Set aside. Wrap a towel around your shoulders and separate hair into 4 sections. Apply the egg treatment to hair, from root to tip. Gently massage into scalp, to alleviate dry scalp. Concentrate the treatment on ends to revert damage. Put on a plastic cap and let sit for 20 minutes to an hour. Rinse well with tepid (not hot) water. Shampoo, condition, and style as usual.
Use this treatment once per month. Using it any more than that can cause protein overload. Beware of any food allergies, especially to eggs and honey. If you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients, do not use this treatment.
