I enjoy having a daily morning routine. When I perform habits that I enjoy on a regular basis, I feel like I can take on life with vitality, focus, and mindfulness. I notice a difference in the quality of my day if I forget to do these things. Though simple, these morning routine ideas will set you up for a great day.
Read a passage from a book
Whether it’s a novel, memoir, or devotionals, taking a few minutes to read in the morning helps me feel centered. I almost always find a quote, idea, or thought that inspires me for the day ahead.
Performing a series of sun salutations in the morning helps to wake me up and get my blood flowing. Nothing formal, just a few poses on a yoga mat rolled out next to my bed. If you need ideas for poses, there are thousands of yoga tutorials on YouTube.
I believe in God. I also believe in talking to God. Anywhere, anytime. I like to have those conversations in the morning before I start my day, and before I go to sleep at night.
Meditation comes after prayer. I take the time to visualize the day ahead, the things I need to do, and envision completion.
5. Eat Breakfast
If I wake up early enough, I eat a hot breakfast. More often I eat breakfast on the go, usually a piece of fruit and raw almonds. If I skip breakfast and only drink coffee, I’m left cranky, jittery and subject to bad eating decisions.
