After years of starting, abandoning, and deleting blogs on various domains, yesterday I decided to convert my personal website into a blog. Being a place of inactivity, my website was the perfect blank slate to launch a personal lifestyle platform that will grow with me on the journey of living a creatively fulfilled life.
I have a living Tumblr page, consisting of mostly images, but I haven’t written any thought-out content online in more than two years. I’ve had several blogs in the past, but eventually abandoned them after becoming disillusioned and discouraged. I felt my blog wasn’t as successful as others who started blogging at the same time and even after me. I was suffering from crippling insecurity, compounded by increasing competition on the internet. 14 year old internet stars out there creating full-on editorial style blog content daily and 26 year olds with massive YouTube followings launch multi-million dollar startups left me feeling way behind, as I reached and eventually surpassed age 30. And there I sat with my little blog, not even cracking 100 visits per day, and let’s not talk about monetization (I might have earned a grand total of $100 in six months on one of my blogs). I was nowhere near my dream of quitting my 9-5 digital marketing job to become a full-time blogger.
I’m coming back to blogging not with the goal of making money, but with the foundational concept of sharing content that resonates with readers who take time out of their day to visit my site. With this blog I hope to inspire creativity, and meet cool people.
