There are tons of places to get sushi in LA. You could buy sushi at Walgreen’s in Hollywood if the craving is that deep. Perplexing thoughts of drugstore sushi aside, one of the best places to get cheap sushi in Los Angeles is at one of my favorite places: Tenno Sushi, in Downtown Los Angeles.
What I Ordered
Tenno offers a full Japanese menu, including beer, wine, and dessert. I always promise myself that I’ll try one of the salad or noodle bowls here, but my dining companion and I always end up eating the same thing. Him: Philadephia roll, Lobster roll, and maybe sashimi. Me: spicy tuna roll, spider or crunch roll, and gyoza. We usually drink Kirin or Asahi, with a large hot sake. On hot days, I get half and half iced green tea and lemonade. I eat the same thing at every sushi place I go to because I’m a creature of habit. Some places are better than others, and Tenno is good enough to be in my rotation of sushi restaurants. Read on for the food…
Refreshing, delicious iced green tea lemonade (and hot sake)
Super fresh fish
I’m pretty basic when it comes to rolls *shrugs*
If you go here, get the gyoza, it’s bomb
Date night, girls night, guys night, or a quick bite alone at the bar. And happy hour! It’s from 4-6 pm every Monday – Friday if you’re in the area during that time. The ambiance is loungey, with TVs and good background music.
If driving, bring extra money to park in one of the nearby garages or brave it at the meters. Lyft or Uber is always a good idea.
