I’m so happy I learned how to make chocolate covered strawberries. They are a premium-priced indulgence; around Valentine’s Day, the average chocolate shop in Los Angeles charges $20 for only a half-dozen. I definitely don’t mind splurging once in awhile, but I can polish off a whole dozen of chocolate covered strawberries in one sitting. Therefore it’s important for me to know how to make them so I can enjoy them more often at a lesser cost.
How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberries:
A perfect treat for Valentine’s Day, or anytime.
You Will Need:
- 1 lb fresh strawberries, washed and dried
- 1/4 lb (4 oz) baking chocolate
- A heat proof container
- 1 small sauce pan
What to Do:
Break off half the chocolate bar (~2 oz) and place into heatproof container. Save the other half of the chocolate bar for later!
Fill a small saucepan with water. Bring to a boil, then to a simmer.
As the chocolate melts, stir to help smooth it out. Once completely melted, remove from heat and let cool.
Once the chocolate has cooled down, dip a strawberry into it, covering as much of the strawberry as you can. Tip: this process is easier if a skewer is inserted into the head of the strawberry.
Place each dipped strawberry on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let cool. Once all strawberries have been dipped, place in the fridge to harden.
Slightly imperfect, but perfectly delicious! I can’t wait to make these again, with white chocolate and crushed peanuts!
