On the same day, two people asked my recommendations for books on self-help and affirmations. I have a considerable library of fiction and non-fiction books on a slew of topics, so I was happy to share the titles that have encouraged me in my personal growth journey. I’m a firm believer that if someone asks a question, there are probably others out there who could benefit from the answer, so I decided to write a blog post about it. Hopefully you’ll find something motivational in the list to read this winter; read on to see my favorite inspirational book recommendations.
I haven’t cracked this book open yet, but I’m a big Seth Godin fan and look forward to the creative inspiration I know lives inside.
2. Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts: Using the Power of Pleasure to Have Your Way with the World (How to Use the Power of Pleasure)
This book is always on my reading list; after reading cover to cover I put it in my bathroom to read when I’m relaxing in the tub.
3. The Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn (Includes The Shinn Biography): The Game of Life/ Your Word Is Your Wand/ The Power of the Spoken Word/ The Secret Door to Success
Florence Scovel Shinn
Hands down the best book of affirmations. There’s some life-altering mantras between these covers.
4. The Fire Starter Sessions: A Soulful + Practical Guide to Creating Success on Your Own Terms
I’m almost done re-reading Fire Starter sessions; I like to pick it up once a year or so to reboot my motivational juices.
5. Gentlewoman: Etiquette for a Lady, from a Gentleman (BEREOLAESQUE)
Enitan O. Bereola II
Enitan Bereola uses beautiful prose to in an ode to the Gentlewoman.
Bonus: 6. You, Inc.: The Art of Selling Yourself (Warner Business)
This book inspires me to dig deep to influence how I can present myself. I’ve only half-read it but look forward to picking it up again this winter.
